Why I Love Mondays

Most people seem to hate Mondays, but when you stop to analyze why, you can see that this hate is unjustified. Monday is the traditional start of the corporate work week, it means sunday night you go to bed early so you can begrudgingly wake up early Monday morning and cram yourself onto a train with thousands of other tired people. If you are a student it is the day you typically grumpily head back to class with your assignments ready to turn in (hopefully, if you are a good student). Though few of us are bright eyed and bushy tailed first thing in the morning we should still not forget that work and school are GOOD things, not punishments.

School is what in a large part, prepares us for the world, provides us resources to have a fulfilling life. There, we learn useful things, we learn skills and we learn what it is that holds our interests and makes us happy. School is where we learn to make friends, and how to tolerate people we don't like in a constructive civil manner (hopefully). It is where we first start learning how to solve conflicts and try new things. School is a gift; yes, it is difficult, but few things worth doing are easy.

Work is also a gift. We complain about hating work, but few of us enjoy being unemployed. Most of us like to be useful and productive to society around us. We also usually want to be successful for ourselves, so we can feel pride in ourselves and out talents, and MOST of all, we work so we can make money, so we can do the things we like on our precious days off.

When it comes to my mondays I also love them for another reason. Monday is the grocery shopping day in my house. That means by 11pm we have a fully stocked kitchen full of wonderful things to eat, all sorts of fruits and vegetables and meats and cheeses. For me, Monday is the day I wake up and start achieving things and reward myself with wonderful food at the end of the day.

Monday is a gift.
